CIA, the U.S. Spy Agency, Wants YOU
Speakers of Arabic, Korean, Russian, Pashtu and Urdu are particularly interesting as potential employees for the Secret Service of the United States. Leon Panetta, the new CIA director picked by the Obama administration, is even planning on meeting Muslim groups in Detroit and other U.S. cities, in order to show that his agency is serious. But US citizenship is required: "We welcome first-generation Americans to apply", he said. Definitely no foreigners . . . at least not officially. National clandestine service officers, linguists are among positions in particularly short supply. The CIA wants to send many of the new employees overseas. 120,000 people have already inquired last year. This year, there will be tenth of thousands more applicants. But it is not a secret, that working for the U.S. government in such a sensitive field is not for everyone.
