Human-Cow Embryo:
Why is it Such a Big Deal?
A team at the Newcastle University in England empties eggs of a cow and adds 99.9% of human DNA. The result will make history as a "cybrid" - some kind of a "cyber-hybrid", that kept on growing to contain 32 cells and lived for 3 days. The British "Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority" had licensed the trial. Scientists and patient groups hope that powerful stem-cell models will result, that finally can lead to a cure of diseases such as Parkinson's, diabetes and others, which is not just a pipe dream. Why were cow-eggs used? Because human eggs are in short supply.
