Phoenix Mars Lander to NASA Earth: By Golly, We Found Water
As the photographic image illustrated, the much discussed white solid chunks, set free by the Phoenix Lander shovel, changed to gas within very few days, causing lead investigator Peter Smith to explain in wired.com: "It must be (water) ice". This is great news for planning teams of an eventual human visit of the red planet within the next 2 decades or so. Because, water that can be dug up on the planet, would not have to be taken from earth, at a huge expense. NASA is now expecting the result of the soil analysis, presently undertaken. It could determine the presence of organic molecules - but not life ... unless some creature with legs would crawl around right in front of the camera.
