Hollywood Writers Strike: TV Viewers
are Leaving Screens in Droves
According to the Nielsen ratings organization, America's television networks are suffering dramatic losses in viewership: Almost 25% fewer people are watching. Production of scripted shows came to a standstill. The price for the economy in Los Angeles is high: This strike is costing about $20 million per day. Last week, the Writers Guild of America and Hollywoods studio executives returned to the table. So far, few encouraging reports have hit the wires.
