5 times the speed of sound ... and twice as fast as the world famous "Concorde" - this is how the hypersonic airliner will be used in the future of modern air travel. British engineers are ready to design this plane, which is currently creating headlines all over the world. Top speed will be about 3,400 mph - and up to 300 passengers will be able to fly, very likely at premium prices. The A2 will be a "green plane": It's liquid hydrogen-powered engines will minimize carbon emissions. The "unique" aircraft, as senior engineer Alan Bond calls it, is partly funded by the European Space agency.
